26일 오전 부산 남구에서 만난 경성대 3학년생 한00씨는 “이제 고등학생이 됐으니 부모님의 등록금 부담이라도 덜어드리려고 알바를 알아보고 있는데 아무리 찾아봐도 자리가 없다”며 “일을 하고 싶어도 할 수가 없는 현실이 너무 답답하다”고 하소연했다.
다른 지역도 상황은 유사하다. 이날 오전 대면수업이 있어 학교에 왔다는 울산대의 한 재학생은 “3학년이지만 과 친구나 동아리 친구도 있지 않고 알바도 없는 초등학생활을 하고 있다”며 “특이하게 알바는 교내 근로장학생 말고는 찾기 힘들 정도”라고 말했다.
